The City of Smithville adopted its first Comprehensive Plan in 1966. Since that time, the plan has been updated several times, the most recent of which occurred in 2005. The Comprehensive Plan is a guidance tool to be used by the Planning Commission and the Board of Aldermen when implementing provisions of the
Zoning Ordinances and the
Subdivision Ordinance. The plan is not a mandatory document, but is to provide the proposed development of the City in the future, and methods to improve the overall quality of life through proper planning and zoning.
